FAQ
What is GeoCeramica®?
GeoCeramica® is a patented paving system that fuses a durable 10mm porcelain tile to a robust concrete base using AquaFerm® technology. This creates a strong, easy-to-install surface with the beauty of porcelain and the strength of concrete ideal for outdoor environments such as patios, pool decks, rooftops, and commercial spaces.
What makes GeoCeramica® different from standard porcelain tile?
Traditional porcelain installations require mortar beds and specialized labour. GeoCeramica® installs just like a concrete paver using standard base materials and tools, saving time and reducing installation complexity. Its built-in spacer bars ensure consistent joint widths and alignment across the project.
Will the colour of GeoCeramica® fade over time?
No. The porcelain surface is UV-stable and fade-resistant. Its colour and finish will remain vibrant for years, even in direct sunlight or harsh weather conditions.
Is GeoCeramica® safe for pool decks and wet areas?
Yes. The porcelain surface is slip-resistant and rated for virtually all outdoor uses, including pool surrounds, walkways, and rooftop spaces.
How does AquaFerm® technology work?
AquaFerm® is a proprietary binding agent that chemically and mechanically fuses the porcelain top layer to the Stabikorn® base. It is moisture-activated, creating even stronger bonds in wet and cold climates — ideal for Canadian conditions.
What is the Stabikorn® base, and why is it important?
Stabikorn® is a porous concrete base that allows water to drain away from the product, increasing resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and reducing the risk of efflorescence. It provides the strength and flexibility needed for long-term outdoor performance.
How is GeoCeramica® installed?
GeoCeramica® installs just like a standard paver system using open-graded or traditional bases. A roller compactor is recommended, and a vacuum lifter helps minimize breakage. Resin or polymeric sands can be used for joints, allowing for easy maintenance and cleaning.
How should GeoCeramica® be cleaned and maintained?
GeoCeramica®’s non-porous surface is easy to maintain. Most dirt, stains, and residue can be removed with soap, water, or a mild all-purpose cleaner. The surface can also be pressure washed up to 3500 psi when resin-based jointing sand is used.
Where has GeoCeramica® been used successfully?
Since its introduction in 2016, over 90 million square feet have been installed across Europe.
